Mollie McClelland yoga teacher

How long have you been teaching yoga and where do you teach?

I have been teaching about 13 years. After teaching in many top London studios, I have consolidated my work to Sadhaka Yoga Centre in Camden, which is the studio I own and lead. I teach classes, and teacher training courses, and mentor other teachers as they begin teaching.

Where do you draw your inspiration from?

Everything. My practice. my husband. Nature. Plants, flowers, stars, physics, metaphysics, poetry (I especially love E.E.Cummings). Music. Art (right now I am really taken with the work of Nepalese Painter Govinda Shah Azad). Contemporary Dance (my friend Kyle Abraham is an incredible choreographer in NYC, and I also love Akram Khan). Mostly I am inspired by the perfection and beauty of the human body, and all that is possible in it, with it and through it.

What style of yoga do you teach?

I teach a mindful, strong Vinyasa Flow practice. These days I am working with how we experience energy moving in the body, so I will take inspiration from other forms if it helps students (and me) to get a deeper feeling for what is happening in the body.

What do you like about teaching on yoga retreats?

I love the time to work with students and be together. I love how the practice can develop with concentrated time. I also love the sun and not having to take the tube, and having much more space to feel and breathe and reflect.

Where do you like to go on holiday?

Holiday! I go to the states a lot to visit my family, but I love mountains and also love the sea. Been to Sri Lanka India and Israel a few times each. I love exploring new places and am next looking at Morocco. I’d also love to go to West Africa. I’d like to learn dancing there.
