The Healthy Holiday Company, which owns and operates the destination yoga brand, was founded in 2003. From day one, the company has been totally dedicated to providing great service and exceptional experiences for all our holiday guests. Ok, we made a few mistakes every now and then in the early days with our original holiday brand – in:spa retreats – but by the time we came to launch destination yoga in 2009 we had become a highly professional business with a fantastic team, both in the London office (our HQ is in Ladbroke Grove, W10) and at our destinations to various gorgeous sunny spots in southern Europe, North Africa and further afield.

There are many crucial ingredients, we believe, for ensuring happy customers and are delighted to explain how and why we do what we do to minimise the chance of disappointment and maximise the likelihood of satisfaction amongst all our guests, whatever their age, sex, yoga experience or objectives on their holiday.

The yoga teachers: our teachers are, of course, the key to our continued success. They are all much loved, wonderful people with many years experience teaching yoga to all levels of experience and ability. We are very proud to be able to work with so many outstanding teachers.

The office team: they have all visited our yoga holiday destinations, know our teachers and have even enjoyed our holidays themselves – so they really know what they are talking about and are ideally suited to explain everything, right down to the smallest detail, to all enquiries. And, as a ‘high touch’ service, we call all our guests a week or two before departure to double check that they have everything they need and to see if they have any last minute questions. This maximises the likelihood of our guests arriving for the start of their holiday with everything they need and avoids the pitfalls and hassles of a ‘day one’ minor panic for our team and, most importantly, for the guest.

Information: we set out as clearly as possible on our website all the ingredients of our holidays so that prior to departing all our guests have a very clear picture about the accommodation, the travel arrangements, the teacher, the food, the schedule, the weather, what to pack, all prices (included and excluded), the area surrounding the venue, passport / visa requirements etc. etc. This is then reinforced and expanded upon over the telephone prior to the guest making their booking by our friendly, knowledgeable office staff. Once a booking has been made, we supply a suggested list of things to pack and think about before the trip starts, as well as asking all our guests to complete a pre-holiday yoga profile form so that we have a clear understanding of each individual guests’ particular requirements and experience. All these points go towards explaining why the Sunday Times Style Magazine described destination yoga ‘as a jolly good deal…. run by experts who believe passionately in what they do.’

Proactive: part of the role of the destination yoga ‘hosts’ (normally the owner of the property) during the holiday is to pro-actively seek out potential problems before they arise. We double check, for example, all bedrooms and bathrooms before the guests arrive. The host will ask all guests on arrival and on the first morning if everything they expect and require was in their bedroom / bathroom. If not, we can get on to it straight away and get it sorted. We apply this principle to all facets of our holiday. Guests love it.

Amazing food: this may sound like an odd one, but we think that a yoga holiday (or pretty much any holiday) can only be truly great if the food is outstanding – as well as, of course, being healthy and nutritious. Therefore we only go to venues where we know the food will be delicious.

Under promise and over deliver: we believe in honesty, accuracy and commitment to perfection. We have discovered that if we explain clearly and accurately exactly what each guest may expect from their holiday and then work hard to ‘over deliver’ on our promise, everyone will be happy.

Questionnaire: after every destination yoga holiday we ask our guests to kindly complete an online feed-back form that covers all aspects of their holiday. This is an important mechanism for us to ensure that we have maximum knowledge about likes, dislikes and potential issues. We can then fix, adapt or change accordingly.

Repeat: one in three of The Healthy Holiday Company’s guests had been on holiday with us before. We think this helps demonstrate that we have a selection of great holidays at great prices. We look forward to seeing more repeat guests this year and every year going forward.
